Product Description:
Handsomely designed and built to last, this cushioned chaise offers a modular style that can be used on its own or in concert with other pieces from the Strathwood Balboa outdoor furniture collection. Create a sectional arrangement with the center seat and corner seat from the collection, which also includes an ottoman. The chaise is constructed of kapur wood, a dense and highly durable hardwood from Southeast Asia (primarily Indonesia and Malaysia). The kapur has a fine-sanded, oil-stained finish in a warm, mahogany brown tone. Rivaling teak for strength and resistance to weather and insects, it's ideal for outdoor use. Left untreated, kapur will weather to a soft, warm shade of gray similar to that of teak.
The cushioned chaise features blocky, square chair footings and a wide, slatted construction on its seat and back. The chair offers a gently angled seat back on which to recline. It measures 61.6 inches long by 27.6 inches wide, with the back rising 33.1 inches tall from the floor. Assembly is easy, with all parts and hardware included.
The chair comes with a 4-1/2-inch-thick seat cushion with a durable, heavy polyester canvas cover in a natural tone, as well as a 4-1/2-inch-thick back cushion with Velcro fasteners that loop through the slats.
Before shipment, your new furniture will receive a generous application of teak oil. Teak oil provides protection from ultraviolet light. Left untreated, kapur will weather to a soft, warm shade of gray similar to that of weathered teak. If you prefer to prevent this weathering process, you may apply additional coats of teak oil. The frequency of necessary teak oil applications will depend on the intensity of the sun in your environment, but typically, one or two coats per year is sufficient. Teak oil can usually be found at a marine dealer or hardware store, or through an Internet merchant. If you allow your furniture to weather, you may later decide that you want to restore it to its original condition. This is possible by using teak-cleaner products, also available at most marine dealers and through Internet merchants. After following the instructions for cleaning, you will want to apply a coat of teak oil to prevent the weathering process.
